In the last three months of 2009, the weather was still good enough to go frequently to the park. In addition, Stefan visited Stanford University, and we went to the Coyote Point Museum in San Mateo as well.

For his first birthday, Stefan traveled to Switzerland and met aunt Laure, uncle Philippe, his grand-uncle Jean-Louis and grand-aunt Denise for the first time. It was his first flight as well.

We enjoyed gorgeous weather (unusually warm for September), great food and wine, timely trains and grapes from the vineyards in the Lavaux area.

Stefan's grandfather and grandmother spent three days taking care of him while we visited the cities of Basel and Zürich on our own.

This month, Stefan made big improvements in walking, and he was babbling quite a bit. We took him to the library, to a steam train in Berkeley, and to the Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose.

At 10 months, Stefan became a lot more mobile, and took his first steps in the middle of August.

At a party we went to, he played with many kids older than him and wasn't shy at all! We bought a small table for him to play, and also we took him to the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad in Los Gatos.

Each month brings new skills and new discoveries.

In July we visited the Tech Museum in San Jose and the Oakland Zoo. Stefan has become quite a proficient babbler now, and he touches everything he can in the house, including blinds, the fireplace, the stereo system... we have to make sure there are no dangerous objects that could topple over and hit him.
